Kenai River Float

Sunday, July 30, 2017 – Barron booked a full day float on the Kenai River for us while Dean was still here. It was a gorgeous day, lots of blue skies and some sunshine. We had to gear up in these rain suits, boots, and lifejackets. It was pretty funny.

The river was crystal clear, and we saw tons of wildlife: salmon, trout, eagles and their nests high up in the trees, river gulls and ducks, and even a beaver at the end of the river in the shallows.

The scenery along the way was gorgeous, and our guide taught us lots of local history.

He even packed up a lunch for us that we had on a small island out in the middle of the river.

The coolest part was at the end when we came out onto Skilak Lake, which is what we had looked out on just the day before on our hike.

After the float, we headed up to the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge for a beer with a view of the river.

It was an outstanding day!
