Sockeye Season

Well, the sockeye have been running, and we've been able to get out there a few times so far this summer. The weather has been lovely, and the fish numbers are up.

Dean caught the first one of the season back on July 3.

Then I caught one earlier this week. It was about 20 inches. We had to curl it up to fit in the cooler.

I even got a lesson in how to clean and fillet my catch.

Our best haul was last night (July 18) with Barron getting the majority.

We ended up with about 20 pounds of fish to get processed.

Nothing like fresh salmon for dinner! Welcome to Alaska in the summer!
