Iditarod and Fur Rondy

Barron and I spent this past Saturday, March 3 in Anchorage. We started out watching some of the start of the annual Iditarod Sled Dog Race. It was about 25 degrees outside, but we had on a couple of layers, so it wasn't too bad.

Those dogs were having a blast!

We also got to check out one of the sites of the annual Fur Rendezvous: the Snow Sculpture Competition. To learn more about the 83-year-old festival tradition, check out this link: Fur Rondy History

Here's a few of the cool sculptures:

We stopped by 49th State Brewing Co. for snacks after all of our outdoor activities. It's a really great spot, if you're ever in Anchorage. :)

Out back, they have a great view of the Cook Inlet.

And the beer is tasty, too! We had another great day in AK!

On a funny note, here's a picture our friend in Fairbanks posted. It's titled Alaska Life. And, NO, this has not happened to us. We have a garage. :)
