Exit Glacier Hike - First Signs of Winter

We had out first snow flurries on October 22, but there was hardly anything on the ground in our area. So Barron and I decided to head on over to Seward, a couple of hours away, to get in a hike and see some real snowfall. It was also our first real driving experience on the icy, snowy roads. We did great!

On the way there, we went by a normally swampy area that had already turned into an ice rink. There were people out there ice skating with their dogs running around on the ice. It was awesome!

There were beautiful views on the road there...

The flats are the rocky area just before the base where the glacier was originally. If you have the stamina and the time, you can walk all the way across the flats to the bottom of the glacier.

Views of the base of the glacier... We've hiked to the top before, but that part of the trail was closed due to the snow and ice.

It was the Jeep's first time in the snow...

The sunset on the drive home made for some gorgeous mountain views...
